If you already have existing inventory data stored in some other system you can save yourself a lot of time by using the IMS data import tools instead of doing it by manual entry. All you need is to prepare your data with a spreadsheet and then import your data with the import-tool under Data ⇒ Import.

Import your inventory data in the following order,

  1. Suppliers
  2. Products
  3. Product Stock

And import your Customers & Contacts data in the order listed below,

  1. Customer Groups
  2. Customers
  3. Contacts
  4. Delivery Addresses

The reason why the data should be imported using the above order is because that way the data can be linked together. By first importing the supplier data and then your product data, you can link products to suppliers. Then after uploading your products you can link your product stock to your products the same way.

Download the import-template from our website to prepare your data import. This is Microsoft Excel spreadsheet which explains how to format the data. If you can not read Microsoft Excel documents we also have the same file in OpenOffice format. For other formats please drop us a line in the Questions and Service section of our forum.

To import products first open the supplier sheet and paste your supplier information in there. The columns with a red header are mandatory. To link a product to a supplier use the same supplier code, to link product stock to a product use the same product code, to link a contact to a customer use the same customer code and so on. Save the sheet as CVS and use it with the IMS import tool under Data ⇒ Import.
