Hi Joel. Thanks for writing in.
I see your point. Sales order customer contacts can now only be managed through the sales order contact and delivery contact drop down boxes. Once you add a new contact to either the contact drop-down or the delivery contact dropdown it will de added to both drop-down boxes. The system maintains a contact database for each customer which is shared by both drop-down controls.
For an order fulfillment perspective the sales order contact in the sales order fulfillment form is the customer contact that orders from you, i.e. the person that calls you and places the order. The customer delivery contact is the person who will accept the order. They can be the same person or two different people. But both are selected from the same customer contact database. The selected delivery contact here will appear as the delivery contact on your invoice.
In the customer maintenance view you will find two more drop-down controls, one for the main customer contact person and one for the billing contact. Again both controls maintain the same customer contact database. The billing contact here will be printed as the billing contact on your invoices.
Taking your points into consideration we may try to simplify the management of customer contacts. Maybe through an additional form or from the customer maintenance form. Updates will follow.
