There are so many internet service providers and cloud providers and makes choosing the right one not easier than before. One of our clients was asking us the following:
"They offer 60GB web space and a maximum of 25 MySQL-databases. But each database can only have a maximum size of 1 GB. This sounds a bit small for me. As far as I know, the pictures will not be saved inside the database, but linked to their according location, correct? So, their size will not affect the MySQL size. However, you know the kind of business I want to run. Do you think this size is appropriate?"
As the client was going to install wordpress I replied that I thought it was a strange service offer. Why do they allow you to have 25 databases of each 1GB? Why not just one database with 25GB? Who needs 25 databases? En then also each 1 GB? I guess it's a package for hosting reselling purposes.
1 Gb is also not much storage. The usage depends on the the plugins that you will install in Wordpress to get your job done. First of all don't sign up for anything. If you use AWS you always pay and the end of the month and you can cancel whenever you want. No commitment. And more important, no limitation on the number of databases or the size of each.
Images may or may not be installed in your database. Again, depends on the plugin. Best practice nowadays is to store images on separate low-cost cloud storage such as AWS S3 and use a CDN for improved performance.
