SINGAPORE - Online social-networking company Facebook has opened an advertising sales office here and has appointed Stephen Dolan as commercial director for Singapore and South-East Asia.

Based in Singapore, Mr Dolan will build and lead a team that will provide direct, locally-based support and expertise for brands, agencies and companies to help them connect to and deepen relationships with their target audiences.

Facebook said its investment in a sales office demonstrates its commitment to the region, where brands are beginning to realise the marketing opportunity Facebook provides.

Facebook's commercial director for the Asia-Pacific, Mr Blake Chandlee said Singapore was a natural choice to set up an advertising sales office because of the number of companies that have set up regional headquarters here.

The company works with brands across Asia such as Air Asia and Research In Motion, and is building a local team to provide expertise and support to these brands in executing their marketing campaigns on Facebook..
